Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)
Take a course and spend a week in another European country!
Current range of Blended Intensive Programmes
Take the chance to study something interesting and meet students and teachers from different parts of Europe. You can now apply for this year's Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).
A BIP is a course of 4–6 credits, based on more flexible forms of mobility, combining a physical and a virtual component. The courses include both teachers and students from several European countries.
There are two different types of BIP courses:
- Those organised by the University of Gävle.
- Those organised by other higher education institutions within EU GREEN.
Different rules apply depending on whether it is a course organised by the University of Gävle, or one of our partner universities.
The courses are organised within our European University EU GREEN and information about all the courses can be found on the EU GREEN Alliance website. External link.

In addition to the University of Gävle, EU GREEN also includes universities from France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Romania, Germany and Ireland.
How to apply
Before you apply for one or more BIPs organised by universities other than the University of Gävle, you should:
1. study the information material of the course you are interested in so you know that you meet the prerequisites and that the dates for both distance learning and the on-site week suit you. At the bottom of each course description, you will find a link to an application form where you fill in your details.
2. The BIP that you want to attend must be credited towards your degree from the University of Gävle. This means that your participation must be approved by your course leader or subject representative. Please note that since BIP courses carry fewer credits than the standard 7.5 higher education credits, you will need to take an additional course or courses that together amount to 7.5 credits in order to practically include the BIP course in your degree.
3. Once you have received approval from your programme director or subject representative, you should contact the International Office at the University by emailing: studentsupport@hig.se
You will receive instructions on how to apply for the BIP, what is included in the application and information about the scholarship and insurance.
4. Do all this in good time and before the application deadline closes.
If you are applying for one or more BIPs organised by the University of Gävle, you apply for these as a regular course with us. The rules above do not apply, and you do not need to contact the International Office.
Funding for BIPs
If you are enrolled in one or more BIPs at other EU GREEN institutions, you can apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship for the part of the programme that takes place at the host institution or elsewhere in the host country (physical mobility), provided that the above requirements are met.
If you are studying a BIP hosted by the University of Gävle, you are not eligible for this scholarship.
