Change password

The password linked to your user account must be changed once a year. You will receive a reminder e-mail 30 days, and then again, 7 days before the password change must occur. If you do not change your password in time, your account will be closed and you lose access to Canvas and other University web services.

Change or forgot your password?

If you need to change or have forgotten your password, there are three verification methods to chose from in order to set up a new one. These are the same methods you used to collect your user account: universityadmissions.se, Edu-id or e-mail.

Set up a new password via universityadmissions.se or Edu-id

  1. Go to this page and select the chosen verification method External link.
  2. Log in with your username and password for the selected service
  3. Choose a new password (your username will be displayed in the green box).

Set up a new password via e-mail

If you have a Swedish personal identity number you can't access Ladok if you use this method.

  1. Go to this page and fill in your Swedish personal ID number External link.
  2. A reset link will be sent to the e-mail address you have registered in our student documentation system (Ladok).
  3. Click on the link and choose a new password (your username will be displayed in the green box).

Things to consider when creating the password for your user account

  • The password must contain at least 8 characters, including one lower case letter, one upper case letter and one number.
  • The password must not contain the following special characters: spaces, ’, `, ’, <, >, ½, /, å, ä or ö.
  • After you have created (or recently changed) your password, it may take up to 15 minutes before you have full access to all systems.

Forgotten your username?

If you have forgotten your username, you can find it out by changing your password.

After you have changed your password, the username is presented in the green box with the text ‘You have created a new password for “username” at the University of Gävle.
