Writing your thesis
A student thesis is included in most of the programmes at the University of Gävle. All final theses from study programmes and bachelor's theses and higher from independent courses should be published in Diva. The Diva portal is a finding tool for research publications and student theses.
Thesis at the Faculty of Education and Business Studies
Students writing a thesis at the Faculty of Education and Business Studies will receive the forms and guides needed with the course information in the "Welcome letters".
Thesis at the Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development
A thesis project is a course and is treated as any other course during your studies and should hence be applied to at antagning.se. When admitted you are required to hand in a separate application form, "Application for Degree Project/Thesis Work" together with a description of the project (approximately one A4 page). To prove that you have the qualifications required you are also requested to hand in a study record from Ladok together with the form.
Apart from writing your own thesis, to pass the examinations you are required to:
- Attend minimum two other degree project presentations,
- Act public opponent (formal student reviewer) for one degree project,
- Present your own thesis, orally, in a public dissertation, and
- fulfill some other requirement stated in the syllabus for degree projects in your specific field of study.
The parts 1 and 2 above shall be documented in the form Presentation form for degree project which can be downloaded using the link below. Each instance must be signed by the acting examiner at the presentation you attend. When fulfilled the form shall be handed in to the Faculty Administration Office.
Thesis at the Faculty of Health and Occupational Studies
Students writing a thesis at the faculty of health and occupational studies will receive the forms and guides needed with the course information in the "Welcome letters".
To ensure that good research ethics is applied in all degree projects at University of Gävle that concern people, degree projects at the first and second level are reviewed by the Research Ethics Council at the University.

Applying for a Degree Certificate
When you have completed your studies at the University of Gävle, you apply for a degree in Ladok.
